Cannabis flour: recipe and uses

Cannabis flour, like cannabutter , is very simple to make, and can form the basis for numerous recipes. This differs from hemp flour , which is obtained by grinding the seeds and therefore has neither THC nor CBD.

Unlike cannabis butter, however, it does not have a strong odor, despite having the same potent effects. The only downside is that all recipes made using cannabis flour leave a noticeable aftertaste.

Another positive side, in addition to the fact that it can be added to any dish and its effects, is that it keeps perfectly for many months if stored correctly. The general rule for its use is not to replace more than ¼ of the flour needed for preparation with cannabis flour: when preparing foods containing marijuana, less is more .

To prepare a good cannabis flour, the first step is to decarboxylate it (we covered this step in detail here ) and chop it finely.

HOW TO PREPARE CANNABIS FLOUR

Cannabis must be as dry as possible to avoid mold formation during storage. Before starting, it is important to remove the stems and seeds because, if left, the flour (and therefore your dish) could be excessively bitter.

What is needed:
  • Cannabis flowers, stems and leaves
  • Coffee grinder/blender
  • Baking tray
Procedure:
  1. Pre-heat the oven to 110°C.
  2. Breaking cannabis flowers; if you also want to use stems and leaves, you must try to separate them.
  3. Spread the crushed cannabis on a baking tray.
  4. Cook for 60 minutes, stirring approximately every 10 minutes.
  5. Remove the cannabis from the oven and leave to cool.
  6. Grind the marijuana in a blender or food processor until it becomes a very fine consistency.
  7. Store in a sealed container, in a cool place and away from light

HOW TO USE CANNABIS FLOUR

At the moment, there are two most widespread opinions on how to use and store cannabis flour: the first is to keep marijuana flour separate from classic flour until the moment of actual use; the second, and more widespread, is to keep the flour and cannabis already mixed together. Most people use a flour-to-cannabis ratio of 2:1 (two parts regular flour to every part ground cannabis).

However, in recipes the general rule would be to not replace more than ¼ of the total flour needed for preparation with Cannabis flour; otherwise, your preparations could be too strong.

BAKED SWEETS AND OTHER IDEAS

There are many things that can be created with Cannabis flour, but the most popular and appreciated foods are certainly baked desserts: muffins, cakes, brownies, but also banana bread, donuts, pretzels... in short, so on and so forth. put some!

The advice we give you is not to exceed the cooking temperature of 180°, otherwise the active ingredients (THC, CBD, etc.) would deteriorate.

Bread and desserts are not the only foods you can try to cook: why not a savory dish, like pasta or meatloaf? There is no limit to the imagination.

Happy preparation!
